Disneyland is introducing a comic book character known for insulting people, and fans are excited to see him dish out insults at the family-friendly park.
The California theme park announced on Tuesday that a Deadpool character will appear at Avengers Campus at Disneyland California Adventure Park for a limited time beginning Friday.
His appearance will coincide with the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, which opens in theaters that night.
Some fans are now hoping the foul-mouthed mercenary, whose films are rated R, might insult guests.
One Instagram user even wrote: “If he doesn’t insult me, the magic disappears.”
Disneyland announced Tuesday that a Deadpool character will appear at Avengers Campus in Disneyland California Adventure.
Some eager fans now say they hope the foul-mouthed superhero will be allowed to swear.
Another asked if the costumed character would be allowed to swear “because I want to see him cuss out Mickey,” while a third wrote that “HR is going to have a field day with this.”
But Disneyland officials insist that while the Deadpool movies are aimed at a more mature audience, any character appearances at Disney theme parks will offer an experience and interaction for all ages. They told the Orange County Register.
Some have since suggested that the masked superhero does not actually speak to guests, but rather pantomimes himself as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck or Goofy.
It’s not yet clear how the family-friendly theme park plans to deal with the R-rated character.
That would set Deadpool apart from the other superheroes at Disneyland’s California Adventure, who tend to interact and talk with guests.
Still, that wouldn’t stop visitors from insulting the fast-healing mercenary or those around him and posting their videos on social media.
Deadpool’s appearance on Friday coincides with the premiere of the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Dirk Libbey, writer for Cinema Blend, has Instead he suggested The character should “have access to a pre-recorded bleep so he can censor his own language and then get irritated every time it happens.”
But it’s still unclear how Disneyland plans to handle the R-rated character.
