An advert for a ‘completely renovated’ home has pushed already frustrated tenants over the edge, with photos showing a toilet connected to water via a hose to the bathroom sink.
Several property adverts for the Auburn property in western Sydney have been widely shared on social media, with commentators left appalled by the $750-a-week asking price.
‘The toilet is connected by a hose from the sink. The kitchen is nightmare fuel and it looks like the laundry room is going to have people living there,” one person wrote.
The 613 m² red brick property has three bedrooms, a “nice kitchen”, a bathroom, a private patio and off-street parking.
There is also a granny flat on the property, but it is “not included” in the rent.

Angry onlookers were shocked to see that water to the three-bedroom house’s two bathrooms (one pictured) was supplied by garden hoses.
While the description seems like an ideal home, photos of the property show that it is very deteriorated.
Not to mention, the advertised rent is $100 above the median price of a three-bedroom home in the popular suburb, according to data from Real Estate.com.au.
“Imagine what the rooms they didn’t show look like,” said one commenter.
‘Oh my God, it should be illegal to advertise! ‘How is that a place anyone can live?’ wrote another.
“I’m trying to decide which bathroom is better: the one with the hose or the one that looks like a grenade,” said another.
Meanwhile, the kitchen features several crumbling cabinets, dirty floors, and random tiles.
Photos of the interior of the house (above) showed that the house was run down, dated and dirty.
Another alarming photo showed a second toilet powered by a garden hose in a dirty concrete room with a hot water tank supported by spare bricks.
“That’s not a crack house, that’s a crack house,” one viewer wrote online.
‘How can you knowingly let someone live there and take their money? “I think I’d rather sleep outside if I was looking for a place to rent,” said another.
Some commenters theorized that the owner may have accidentally uploaded photos of the house before its renovation.
“They probably forgot to add the new photos, the photos from AFTER the renovations,” said one.

Only one photo of the exterior of the house remains attached to the rental ad, and the owners delete the rest.
Viewers took the announcement as a further sign of Sydney’s growing rental crisis, which has seen prices soar across the city due to shortages.
Corelogic found that Sydney’s median rental price is now $745, with its flashiest eastern suburbs hitting $1,000, while the Northern Beaches hit $1,170.
