Dave Grohl fans were left in shock on Tuesday after he admitted to cheating on his wife and fathering a secret child with someone else.
The Foo Fighters frontman, 55, issued a public apology to his wife of 21 years, Jordyn Blum, and their three children, saying he is “doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
As fans reel from the news, an interview with Grohl’s late mother, Virginia, has resurfaced, in which she admitted her fears for her son’s love life.
Speaking to The Guardian in 2017, Virginia (who sadly passed away in 2022) confessed that she was more worried about how her son would fare with women than whether he would be drawn into the perils of the rock and roll lifestyle.
Reflecting on Grohl’s newfound celebrity in the early Nineties, he admitted: “I was worried about women. It’s so embarrassing, but my biggest fear was that Madonna would get him.”

Virginia also addressed Grohl’s status as “The nicest man in rock.”
The former teacher turned author spoke to other rock star moms while researching a book and noted they “secretly value unreported acts of generosity and kindness” more than platinum records – “commitments to family or community.”
He went on to describe Grohl as “a philanthropist, a stable husband and a “superfather” to his three daughters.
Grohl and Blum have daughters together: Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10.
Virginia said: ‘He makes them breakfast, he makes them lunch and then he goes to the studio’ and added:“He really is as nice as everyone says.”
The interview has resurfaced after Grohl revealed on Instagram that he had a secret son.
“I recently became the father of a new daughter, born out of wedlock. I plan to be a loving and understanding father to her. I love my wife and children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness,” he wrote.
“We are grateful for your consideration for all the children involved as we move forward together,” he concluded.

Grohl and Blum met in 2001 and have been married since 2003.
After announcing that he had fathered a child out of wedlock, his two eldest daughters closed their social media accounts.
His admission of marital infidelity followed an admission of The Guardian in 2007 that he had also cheated on his first wife, Jennifer Leigh Youngblood.
The two married in 1994, but separated in 1996 and divorced the following year.
In the same interview with The Guardian, Grohl said: “(My wife) Jordyn and (my daughter) Violet are pillars that keep me from completely disappearing.”
Speaking to TIME in 2012, she said her family “changed everything I do.”
He added: “It’s changed everything I do. When you have children, you see life in a different light. You feel love more deeply and maybe you’re a little more compassionate. It’s inevitable that that’s reflected in your songwriting.”
Although little is known publicly about Blum, People reported that she once appeared on the cover of Teen, after being discovered in a supermarket when she was 12 years old.
She is said to have been working as a producer at MTV when she met the leader.

But Grohl told Elle in 2007 that he wasn’t ready for a serious relationship when they met and stopped calling Blum after a few dates.
He shared: ‘After three months, I had an epiphany and called her again. She picked up the phone and said, ‘Oh, I never thought I’d hear from you again.’
Blum has collaborated with Foo Fighters several times, including on the band’s 2002 video for White Limo, where he made a cameo appearance.
He also co-directed Foo Fighters’ 2002 music video for Walking a Line.
