  • The couple was first rumored to be together last August.

AFL star Darcy Moore’s girlfriend Dee Salmin has given an incredibly self-aware explanation for the fact that she doesn’t want to live with the championship-winning Collingwood captain.

Salmin presents Triple J radio’s sex education show The Sunday Hook Up and went into detail about his romance on another ABC show, Ladies, we need to talk… Back earlier this week.

“I don’t live with my partner at the moment and we have very different, independent and busy lives,” she said.

‘We can have a lot of what we had when we were still single in our relationship.

‘But I wonder how much you’ll actually be able to keep when you end up living together.

‘A lot of it is heterodynamic learned behaviors that you can fall into.’

To clarify, it appears Salmin is using those five keywords to indicate that she and Moore do not fit the heterosexual gender stereotype that women take on the bulk of housework and household duties when living with a partner.

The show’s host, TV star turned radio personality and author Yumi Stynes, backed her up, saying living together would lead to “drudgery” that is “not sexy” and asking if Salmin thought all couples should live apart.

Salmin (pictured with Moore at last year’s ARIA Awards) also said she and the Magpies defender “will have separate bedrooms” if they ever end up sharing a house.

“I’m going to keep doing this for as long as possible,” Salmin said.

‘I also told my partner that we are going to have separate bedrooms (if/when we live together).’

“I’m sorry, but that’s really exciting, I love it,” Stynes replied.

“I think it’s very important. I think it’s something you really need to take care of and work on… your partner can’t be everything,” Salmin explained.

“You need to have places where you can be completely yourself.”

Moore and Salmin first sparked dating rumours when they were photographed holding hands last August at the opening night of the Moulin Rouge in Melbourne.

They confirmed their romance as they stepped onto the red carpet at the Brownlow Medal ceremony and were also photographed at the ARIA Awards.

Following Collingwood’s grand final win last year, Dee posted a photo of herself celebrating alongside Darcy at the MCG, along with other photos of her partying with friends.

“A pretty low-key weekend, wbu,” she cheekily wrote in the caption.

Moore is known in football circles for being a very polite, articulate, progressive person with a great love for fashion.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne and is pursuing a Masters degree in International Relations.

Earlier this year, she said of Salmin: ‘I’m into sport and she’s into music, so we show each other our respective worlds.

“He had a baptism of fire during the finals and the grand final, all those very close matches. He had only attended one football match in his entire life.

“It’s been a lot of fun showing him my world.”

The comments about living apart were not the first time Salmin spoke about his relationship on air.

During an episode of her show Hook Up earlier this month, she was talking about sexual chemistry when she revealed an unusual fact about her romance.

“I can’t smell my partner’s body odor. It just doesn’t exist in my brain. I can’t smell anything,” she said.

‘Other people obviously can, but I can’t, and I wonder if, on an attraction level, I just like him, but he doesn’t smell anything.’
