Hundreds of Australian shoppers have been left out of pocket after being unable to pay their bills after a computer glitch resulted in them being charged twice for their grocery orders.

Many Coles online shoppers across the country were charged twice for delivery orders placed on Monday.

An anonymous shopper in South Australia revealed that a $300 purchase cost twice as much, leaving her unable to afford car insurance.

The woman initially did not notice the double debit, but when she realized it, she called. The supermarket’s customer service line immediately.

The operator informed the customer that the problem affected ‘hundreds’ of buyers on Monday.

The customer was also informed that the refund would take at least several days. 7News reported.
