A British tourist who was allergic to milk has died after accidentally consuming a dairy product while on holiday in Morocco.

The woman is believed to have been spending her holidays at a hotel in the Sidi Ibrahim oasis area on the outskirts of Marrakech.

After consuming the dairy product, she suffered ‘intense nausea’ which led her to be transferred to a private clinic.

He later died while in the clinic, according to information obtained by Kech24.

Sources suggest she was allergic to milk and milk products, which she probably consumed by accident.

Milk allergies can cause anaphylaxis, which is a life-threatening reaction that narrows the airways and can block breathing.

After peanuts and tree nuts, milk is the third most common food that causes anaphylaxis.

In October 2022, a British tourist also died during his holiday from an allergic reaction after eating a burrito containing sesame seeds.

The teenager was with friends in the Mexican resort town of Playa del Carmen when he died.

Joe Dobson, 19, from London, asked staff several times in Spanish and English to make sure there was no sesame in the food, South London Coroner’s Court heard.

His friends claimed that after just three bites, Joe knew there was sesame in his food, but said the restaurant staff did not seem concerned about his allergy and did not call an ambulance.

Joe had left his EpiPen at his apartment, but by the time they returned and used it, it was too late.

The 19-year-old’s breathing became increasingly impaired and he lost consciousness before later dying in hospital.
