A Boyzone star has paid tribute to Liam Payne after his shocking death and urged record companies to help their young talents manage fame.
Mikey Graham came to X to offer his condolences after the One Direction star fell to his death from the third floor of a room at the Casa Sur Palmero Hotel in Buenos Aires yesterday.
The former ’90s singer added that more needs to be done to protect young people in the industry, as “fame can be very damaging.”
He wrote: ‘Rip Liam Payne. What tragic news. I think it would be wise for record companies to have psychologists on their files from now on in their memory as a duty to take care of the vulnerability of their young talents.
‘Fame can be very damaging, especially in today’s world. Big money. Nobody to help. Many people do. Nobody honest.

He had discussed his own mental health issues while in One Direction in a conversation in 2021, where he addressed alcoholism and suicidal ideation on The Diary of a CEO podcast.
“I was worried about how far my fund was going to go. Where is the bottom for me? And you would never have seen it. I’m very good at hiding it. “No one would have ever seen it,” he said.
‘There are some things I’ve definitely never talked about. It was really, very, very serious. And it was a problem. “And it was only until I saw myself after that that I thought, ‘Okay, I need to get myself together,'” he continued.
He also talked about drinking.
Liam died in Buenos Aires after falling from a hotel on Wednesday night; Appears in the photo in 2023.
‘The problem was… the best way to make sure, because of how big it got, was to lock ourselves in a room. And of course, what’s in the room? A minibar,” he explained.
“At one point I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to throw a party for one,’ and that seemed to continue for many years of my life.”
“It was crazy, but it was the only way to get the frustration out during the day,” he said.
The pop star had reportedly arrived in the Latin American country earlier this month to attend his former bandmate Horan’s concert.
Local police have since launched an investigation into the sudden death, as tributes flood in in the wake of the tragedy.
A statement from local police said they arrived at the hotel after being “reported of an aggressive man who may have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”

Boyzone was formed in 1993 by pop manager Louis Walsh who was looking to do an ‘Irish Take That’ (LR Ronan, Mikey Graham, Stephen Gately, Shane and Keith).
The band officially broke up in 2000, but have frequently reunited for landmark tours (pictured on stage in 2019).
Boyzone achieved international fame, as well as six UK number ones, including Words, No Matter What, All That Matters To Me and You Needed Me.

In 2018, Boyzone confirmed their plans to split for good after releasing one final album dedicated to late bandmate Stephen Gately.
The band revealed that they would be calling it quits after their 25th anniversary tour and album.
It was a tribute to Stephen, who tragically died suddenly in 2009 from a congenital heart defect at the age of 33.
