President Joe Biden sharply criticized former President Donald Trump and Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene for spreading “lies” about hurricane relief efforts.
It comes as people pick up the pieces of their lives after the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in the Southeast as Hurricane Milton now moves toward Florida.
‘I want to make something clear. “In recent weeks there has been reckless, irresponsible and relentless promotion of misinformation and outright lies that are making people uneasy,” Biden said, speaking directly to the camera at Wednesday’s briefing.
The president said they were “undermining confidence in the incredible rescue and recovery work that has already been done” and will be done. He described misinformation as harmful to those who need help most.
“Former President Trump has led the avalanche of lies,” Biden criticized the Republican presidential candidate.

The president recited a series of claims that he said are “simply not true,” including property confiscation and storm victims. They will receive 750 dollars for their recovery and nothing more and money is being diverted for the migrants.

Trump has made false statements about the Biden administration’s response to his enormous following on social media, in interviews and during the election campaign at rallies. He has claimed there is no money for recovery efforts because it will go toward housing illegal immigrants.
President Biden rejected a series of false claims that former President Trump has made about hurricane recovery efforts during his campaign, in interviews and in online posts.
The former president also lied about Democratic officials favoring Democrats while ignoring Republican areas and claimed that state officials had failed to connect with the president.
Biden also attacked Greene, a close Trump ally, by name when he said the claims are getting “even stranger.”

The president argued that “in times like this, there are no red or blue states.”

Other Republicans have criticized Greene for posting a false weather claim online.
in a Press release On Tuesday, Republican Congressman Chuck Edwards of North Carolina, the state hit hard by Hurricane Helene, attempted to debunk some of the false information circulating.
His statement even included the phrase “no one can control the weather.”
Edwards also disputed false claims that FEMA was seizing supplies or had run out of money.
“There is a United States of America where neighbors are helping neighbors,” Biden said Tuesday. He praised volunteers and first responders for “risking everything, including their own lives, to help their fellow Americans.”
