At that moment another passing vehicle ran over the woman, who died instantly.
The motorhome apparently continued on its way, but local police found the driver at a service station 8.5 kilometres from the scene of the accident.
The driver stopped at a gas station after realizing her mother-in-law had disappeared from the vehicle.
He then reportedly called a worker for help, explaining that he had heard a loud bang coming from the back of the vehicle before realizing his traveling companion was no longer there.
According to Telecinco, the woman’s daughter-in-law, who owned the vehicle, has not been charged with any crime.
Meanwhile, investigators have ruled out the possibility of a third person being on board the vehicle.
