A truck has plowed through a primary school in Sydney’s south after failing to stop at an intersection and colliding with several cars.

Emergency crews worked to free the trapped lorry driver after he crashed into a classroom at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Moorebank.

The driver reportedly failed to stop at an intersection of Newbridge Road and Nuwarra Road at around 1pm on Saturday.

Police will investigate whether the driver had any medical problems before the accident.

“He left the road, crashed into the gate of the local church and then ended up underneath a classroom at the school,” said Sergeant Shaun Colls. 7News.

“Luckily, it’s the weekend (so there were no children at school),” he said.

Up to a dozen cars were reportedly hit when the truck entered the intersection and four people, including the truck driver, were treated by paramedics at the scene.

A woman in her 20s, a man in her 30s and a woman in her 70s were taken to Liverpool Hospital.

No one, not even the driver, was seriously injured.
