A shopper revealed how she got a significant discount on the new iPhone 15 and purchased it for $867.
Melbourne’s Ally Kilpatrick shared a step-by-step guide on how others can do the same, but admitted there’s a big problem.
The regular retail price of the phone with 256GB is normally $2,199, saving you a whopping $1,332.
The young woman visited her local JB Hi-Fi and learned about retail prices, which instantly brought the cost down to $1,927.
on a tiktok video She said: “I can’t believe it but I just bought a brand new iPhone 15 pro max for $867. What the fuck?”
JB Hi-Fi shopper Ally Kilpatrick (pictured) revealed how she scored a huge discount on the new iPhone. The regular retail price of the iPhone 15 pro max with 256GB is normally $2,199, but Ally purchased it for $867, meaning the buyer saved a whopping $1,332.
“JB Hi-Fi always price matches, so it’s worth going online and looking for a similar online retailer that has the exact product at a cheaper price,” Ally said.
“I was able to find the exact item I wanted for $1,927 at Kogan and that’s where we started.”
Ally explained that she was able to receive an additional $800 off thanks to an initial mobile plan promotion.
You had to switch your current phone provider to the JB Hi-Fi network to receive an instant $800 gift voucher.
Customers with an active ABN will be eligible to receive the coupon.
“They just look up their ABN and verify it to match their driver’s license, and as long as it does, they’ll receive an $800 voucher on the spot that they can use toward the iPhone,” Ally said.
But the phone plan locks customers into a 24-month contract at $69 per month, or $1,656 over two years.
“Although this is a plan through JB, it’s basically just Telstra – the service icon at the top says Telstra,” Ally said as she held her new phone up to the camera.
The promotion ends on Wednesday, March 6, however, there is another offer going on that costs $99 per month for 24 months.
Finally, customers will also have to hand in their old device and receive a refund of a certain amount.
Ally said she filled out all the details on the website and got a quote “instantly.” For her old iPhone 11 she receives a $260 voucher to use on the new phone.
To get the big discount, he had to jump through a number of hoops, including switching his mobile phone plan to the JB Hi-Fi network with a fixed 24-month contract (stock image).
After 24 hours, the video surpassed 210,000 views and many thanked Ally for sharing the information.
“She is a smart queen,” one wrote, another said: “I got my phone for free doing this.”
‘The price matched that of my Beats by Dre. It was a cheap price at Woolies and JB Hi-Fi’s price matched it. “I was cheering,” said a third.
Someone else noted: “Harvey Norman has something similar: opt for a new iPhone 15 or higher with a new plan with Optus, get an $800 voucher to use with the phone.”
However, some claimed that JB Hi-Fi often does not match Kogan’s price.
‘They don’t match Kogan’s price. You were lucky and the Telstra plan costs $69. I pay $35 a month for my plan, so that’s an extra $35 a month. Approximately more than $800 for two years,” one of them wrote.
One more added: ‘I would have sold your iPhone a lot more than the locked plan.’ It’s cheaper directly with Telstra. So over 24 months you’ll pay an extra $800 and lose $300 in the value of your phone.’
