A former Premier League footballer has been rushed to hospital after a horror car crash.
The 43-year-old played for West Ham, Fulham and Leicester during his six-year spell in England between 2006 and 2012.
He ended his playing career in 2016 and has since become a coach.
John Paintsil is now Ghana’s assistant coach, and was travelling with national team boss Otto Addo and goalkeeping coach Fatawu Dauda back to Ghana’s capital Accra on Saturday after watching a national cup final when their Toyota Land Cruiser collided with a pickup truck.
The three men were taken to hospital after the accident, before the Ghana Football Federation released a statement updating their condition.

Ghana coach Otto Addo (pictured) and goalkeeping coach Fatawu Dauda were also in the car. All three men are now in a “stable condition”, according to the Ghana FA.
Images have emerged of the wrecked vehicle with one side badly caved in and no wheels.

The statement read: ‘Members of the Black Stars technical team were involved in a road accident while returning from Tarkwa.
‘The vehicle carrying head coach Otto Addo, assistant coach John Paintsil and goalkeeping coach Fatawu Dauda avoided a head-on collision with a pickup truck that swerved into its lane, with some damage to the vehicle.
‘All three members of the technical team are in a stable condition and will undergo further medical assessments upon their return to Accra.’
Photos and videos have emerged of the wreckage, showing the vehicle with one side badly collapsed and without wheels.
Paintsil earned 89 caps for Ghana and participated in two World Cups in 2006 and 2010. Ghana almost became the first African nation to reach the World Cup semi-finals at the latter tournament, but were beaten on penalties by Uruguay in the quarter-finals following Luis Suarez’s controversial handball.
Ghana face Angola and Niger in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next week, but Paintsil and his fellow coaches will need further medical checks before knowing whether they will be able to take the touchline for both games.
