A mumtrepeneur who opened a high-end soft play says she wanted to offer parents a luxury experience.

Mum-of-two Remen Bains, 39, from Sutton Coldfield, who runs two children’s play businesses, says she wants to offer her customers the chance to let their children go wild in an environment that is “child-friendly.” view”.

Crumb and Play, based in a former barn, offers parents the chance to enjoy vegan and gluten-free cakes and coffee while their little ones can pretend to be hairdressers or construction workers.

Her second business, The Kids Corner, brings the luxury soft play experience to children’s homes and parties; Remen says she has famous clients including Rochelle Humes and local Aston Villa players.

The former investment banker says parents love the clean environment and Instagram-friendly look of the playground.

Remen said: “Parents like it when they come to a place that is nice to them – it has a nice environment and is very Instagrammable.”

‘As a mother, I used to go to these soft play places and they felt dirty and grimy, lacking in finish and quality for the little ones.

‘The vision was to create a soft, rustic and stylish play area, really focused on parents, where they could bring their children and still have a good coffee, cake and snacks.

‘We don’t use plastic toys, they are all hand-selected good quality wooden products for children to play with.

‘There are also vegan and gluten-free options for children and the color palette is pretty, colorful and easy on the eyes.

“Girls play in the construction zone and boys play in the hair salon; we kept the colors gender neutral.”

The business owner started The Kids Corner in January 2019 with the goal of bringing a luxury soft play experience to customers’ homes.

Crumb and Play offers 90-minute sessions in the play area from £7.95 for children under two to £10.95 for older children, with non-crawlers entering free.

And it says parents return for the cafe’s deals on cakes from £2.25 and coffees from £3.85.

“I’m trying to change the mindset of what a soft piece can be,” Remen said, “it can be colorful with a little bit of class.”
