Controversial feminist Clementine Ford received notice of concern for defamation after calling an accountant

Controversial feminist Clementine Ford has been hit with a defamation notice after calling an accountant “racist” and “bigoted.”

A furious Ford was seen throwing legal documents over her fence after they were delivered to her home in Melbourne early on Wednesday morning.

A woman in a zebra-print hat threw the papers over the fence before Ford threw them back.

Another photo showed Ford pointing his finger at the woman.

Footage of the interaction circulating online showed the process server repeatedly telling Ford that he had been served with a defamation notice.

An argumentative Ford responded, “I don’t… know my legal rights.”

A neighbor then came to check on Ford, who had gotten into her car and was seen talking to her through the driver’s side window.

Ford appeared visibly distressed, resting her head on her arm as she spoke to the woman, before walking away.

It comes after mother-of-one Jane Agirtan filed a $700,000 defamation lawsuit against Ford after she made a series of abusive comments on social media between August and November last year.

In a statement to WhatsNew2Day Australia, Ford said: ‘Jane Agirtan has a long history of bringing chaotic defamation lawsuits against anyone who criticizes her, apparently unaware of the fact that no one could do worse damage to her reputation than herself.

“You need a psychiatric evaluation, not a sensationalist platform.”

Ms Agirtan declined to comment when contacted by WhatsNew2Day Australia.

The war of words between the pair began when Ms Agirtan, who is running as an independent candidate in Victoria’s Mornington district in the 2022 state election, posted an Instagram story mocking Indigenous Australian Minister Linda Burney for allegedly owning a Gucci bag.

Burney’s office later denied that he owned anything from the luxury brand.

Ford reshared Ms. Agirtan’s post and accused her of being racist.

The two women then traded multiple insults on social media, with Ford telling her nearly 250,000 Instagram followers that Ms. Agirtan was a “lunatic” and a “racist, transphobic cook who aspired to be a politician” (in the photo: their initial interaction).

When Argitan wrote to Ford asking her to retract her “defamatory” statement, Ford suggested she sue her.

“Then sue me for defamation and I’ll also add transphobic bigotry to the mix,” Ford wrote.

Ms. Agirtan, a tax specialist, maintains that Ford’s accusations were unprovoked.

“I had never interacted with Ford and was really unaware of her existence, let alone her pantomime of feminism,” Agirtan told WhatsNew2Day Australia earlier this month.

Ms Agirtan, who is neurodivergent, told Ford that she was an “oppressed Muslim minority” who was mocked by a “white feminist writer.”

“You’re not a damn migrant,” Ford responded.

‘You’re a white Russian woman who posts endless hateful shit about Aboriginal people, trans people, queer people and Dan Andrews.

“Honestly, I would love for you to try filing a defamation lawsuit,” she added, followed by four crying-laughing emojis.

Ms Agirtan also received insults from some of Ford’s fans, who labeled her a ‘witch’ and a ‘fallen old c***’, while suggesting she jump off a cliff.

Ms Agirtan complained to Meta, Instagram’s parent company, the police and the eSafety Commissioner, who she claims did nothing.

Ford even mocked Mrs. Agirtan’s attempts to stop the abuse.

‘Oh no, the Electronic Security Commissioner!!!’ she wrote.

“It’s funny that you think the tactics you use to stop other people from criticizing you online are going to work on me,” Ford added.

The outspoken feminist also shared a news article from 2020 in which Agirtan apologized “unreservedly” for sharing allegedly racist memes mocking indigenous Australians.

In one meme, which was posted years before she launched her political career, Ms Agirtan allegedly shared a photo of an indigenous elder with the caption: “He spends all his money on gas, he doesn’t have a car.”

Another included an image of Jesus with the caption: “Jesus says Aboriginal memes are inappropriate.”

At the time, he told the Herald Sun he had been going through a “difficult personal situation”.

“I deeply apologize to anyone who may have been offended,” he said.

However, when asked by WhatsNew2Day Australia about the posts this month, Ms Agirtan said she did not remember posting the memes and asked if there was any evidence she had shared them.

She also said they were written in broken English, which is not how she writes.

“I’m definitely not racist,” he said.

“I highly doubt the screenshots are genuine and I don’t remember posting memes that specifically include Jesus, as I’m Muslim.”

He called the 2020 story a “failed, politically motivated attempt to discredit me.”

Mrs Agirtan came second with 28 per cent of the vote in the Kingston council election in November that year.

Ford also accused Agirtan of being behind a campaign to stop him from sending messages on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Ms Agirtan shared a photo of Ford’s father Steven, who previously ran for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, claiming it explained Ford’s “raging Islamophobia”.

Agirtan first filed a notice of concern in October last year, to which Ford did not respond.

Ms Agirtan allegedly shared memes aimed at indigenous Australians on a Russian Facebook page. She apologized for them at the time, but now she claims that she does not remember posting them and questioned their veracity.

Ms Agirtan told WhatsNew2Day Australia she could seek up to $700,000 in damages for loss of income.

“Our client has been rejected and is viewed as dishonest by potential clients and this will likely increase this damage in the future,” wrote his lawyer Mark Stanarevic of Matrix Legal.

“Our client is likely to suffer serious harm as a result of her activity as an accountant and aspiring politician.”

Stanarevic added: ‘The anguish has not just been professional; My client has faced considerable emotional turmoil.

“They have been the recipient of an avalanche of abusive messages, many of them direct, sent by their followers.”
