Office: FCA will allow staff to work from home three days a week for the next two years

The city watchdog will allow staff to work from home three days a week for the next two years.

The decision by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) contrasts with big banks and technology companies, which insist that staff attend more frequently.

Its 5,000 employees were told that remote work can be “a better environment for more focused work,” in a memo seen by Bloomberg.

The regulator will undertake a “deeper review” of its policy over the coming months.

Last month, Big Four firm PWC required UK staff to be at their desks or meeting clients at least three days a week from January.

And Spanish bank Santander also instructed its 10,000 British workers to go to the office three days a week.

It comes as new employment legislation promises to give workers rights such as the ability to “disengage”.
