A Scottish teenager who died in Ibiza after falling from a sixth-floor balcony has been photographed for the first time.

Paramedics rushed to the scene but the 19-year-old law student was pronounced dead at the scene.

The University of Strathclyde student had been enjoying a night out with friends just hours earlier at Hï Ibiza nightclub, social media posts show.

Tributes are pouring in for the Scottish teenager, who used to be head girl at her secondary school, St John Ogilve High School.

Headteacher Lorna Lawson said: ‘We are shocked and saddened by the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of our former headteacher, Emma Ramsay.

‘Emma was an incredibly kind, hard-working, bright and talented student who contributed greatly to our school community.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Emma will be missed and will always have a special place at our school.”

Her friend Paris McGoldrick added: “I don’t even know where to begin to tell you how perfect our Emma was. I loved everything about you and always will.”

“Heaven just welcomed the most beautiful angel it will ever have and I am forever grateful to be able to call you my friend. I will always cherish the times we shared together, Em.

‘I will love you forever my girl, you will never be forgotten.’

Ella Redfearn shared a photo of herself and Emma sitting on the edge of a lake and wrote: “Rest in peace my girl. A ray of sunshine and the kindest soul, you will be in my heart forever.”

Another friend, Kimberly Barrie, added: “Rest in peace my girl. Emma Ramsay, thank you for allowing me to meet the purest and most beautiful soul. I will love you forever.”

And Niamh Anderson added: ‘Our beautiful angel. I will be forever grateful to be able to call you my friend. You will be forever young my girl, never a goodbye, just a see you later.

‘The greatest ray of sunshine that ever walked the earth and the greatest blessing heaven has ever received.’

The Foreign Office is understood to be supporting Emma’s family.

A spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Spain and are in contact with local authorities.”

A spokesman for the Spanish Civil Guard said: “I can confirm that a 19-year-old British tourist has died following a fall at a hotel in San Antonio, Ibiza.”
