An Australian fitness trainer has revealed the exercise she recommends for good health.

Belinda Norton, from the Gold Coast, said running has “more biomechanical and health benefits” than any other exercise, plus it’s free.

The 47-year-old health and fitness education professional and certified trainer said adults often stop running for a number of reasons, including mindset, discomfort or ego.

But he stressed that this form of cardio should not be ignored and encouraged others to run regularly.

“Did you know that running is a survival mechanism for the body? It’s a normal function, but as the human race has evolved, it has become a choice,” she wrote on Instagram.

‘This is detrimental to humanity. You think that as soon as a child starts walking, he runs even if he is unsteady. So why do adults stop running? Because of mentality, discomfort, ego.

‘I want you to survive longer. To live with mobility. I want you to see your capabilities. I encourage you to learn to run again. Today is the day. Go ahead! It’s your life that’s at stake.’

Before working out, it’s important to warm up your lower body with a variety of running exercises focusing on your legs, feet, calves, shins, thighs, and hips, which Belinda demonstrated in an Instagram video.

For example, do a set of high knees, side slides, A jumps, B jumps, jumping jacks, backward walk, and lunges for 30 seconds each.

The nine foods you should incorporate into your diet are fish, whole carrots, homemade muesli, oranges, avocados, vegetables, salad, broccoli, brown rice and quinoa.

Belinda also eats one whole raw carrot and two cucumbers daily.

When eating them, you don’t peel or cut them, but wash them and eat them whole.

“Organic foods grown on the land provide our bodies with nutrients and minerals that no other product can provide,” Belinda said.

‘They are inexpensive, they also encourage chewing and are perfectly dosed to nourish and maintain energy.’

Belinda added that the fiber in carrots helps keep blood sugar levels under control, while eating cucumbers hydrates the body and produces health benefits including “weight loss, balanced hydration, digestive regularity and lower blood sugar levels.”

Belinda’s five tricks to “eat and train like a girl”

1. Quality over quantity: Focus on 60 focused minutes of moving your body properly and with purpose.

2. Incorporate weights: A speed circuit using 5-7kg hand weights will improve your muscle strength and overall mobility.

3. Train with alignment in mind: Focus on how your body’s muscles move to achieve results. If you’re a woman, you should especially think about your hips and lower back due to pregnancy and menopause. For this reason, yoga is essential to ensure alignment and limit injuries.

4. Focus on yourself: Avoid a “crazy competitive mindset” and think about your own body and your path to fitness and health.

5. Eat small, quality meals frequently: Instead of opting for large, energy-dense, and exhausting meals, Belinda recommends generating plenty of energy throughout the day and eating smaller, healthier meals to avoid an energy crash. As much as possible, make sure these meals include real, whole foods.
