Furious Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has branded Mark Robins’ behavior ‘disgusting’ after the Coventry boss’s celebrations during his side’s FA Cup quarter-final victory left a picker distressed balls.

Robins apologized “unreservedly” for his conduct after Haji Wright’s 100th-minute winner, when he ran onto the touchline and sang at the youngster, believed to be 13 years old.

“It’s just kids doing a job and the boy is really upset,” O’Neil said. “It was really important for me to talk to Mark about it afterwards.

“To celebrate it in front of a young boy’s face like that, I thought it was disgusting. This shouldn’t happen. I waited for Mark downstairs and talked to him because I was really respectful at the end, after losing a huge match.

“I waited for them to finish their celebrations, shook everyone’s hands, congratulated them on their very good performance in reaching Wembley and told them what a fantastic achievement it was. “

Robins blamed his reaction on the emotion of the match. Coventry trailed 2-1 at the start of nine minutes of added time, but goals from Ellis Simms – his second – and Haji Wright sent them to Wembley in the FA Cup for the first time since winning it in 1987.

Robins said: “I have an apology to make. He’s a young child, so I apologize to him. He has the ball in his hand, drops it and walks away smiling.

“It really bothered me but he’s a kid. I reacted, we scored a goal and I went to celebrate in front of him. I don’t show my emotions very often, but I did today and that’s what the FA Cup does to you. I apologize unreservedly.

It is unclear at this point whether Robins could face further action for the celebration.

“His side had long led thanks to Simms’ strike early in the second half, but late Wolves goals from Rayan Ait-Nouri and substitute Hugo Bueno appeared to have turned the tie in Wolves’ favour.

In another blow for O’Neil, star forward Pedro Neto could miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury that ruled him out of this matchup.
