Dramatic footage captured the moment a man was wrestled to the ground during a citizen’s arrest after being accused of stealing tools and money.

The extraordinary incident happened at Moss Place in Westmead, in Sydney’s west, on Thursday.

The video shows a worker dressed in reflective clothing and a woman speaking heatedly with the alleged attacker, who was wearing a black hat and carrying a backpack.

The man in a high-visibility suit prevented the alleged attacker from moving away.

“Don’t touch me, damn it,” said the alleged attacker.

He then crossed the street followed by the worker and the woman. The woman accused him of stealing money from her.

“I didn’t take anything,” he replied.

The worker and the woman grabbed the alleged attacker, which provoked another outburst full of expletives from the alleged attacker.

“I don’t know him… look at me!” he said.

Moments later, the alleged attacker was seen pinned to the ground as passersby rushed to the scene.

“I intervened and this guy attacked me and jumped on me saying that I had done all this shit,” he shouted.

‘I didn’t steal anything… I didn’t do anything.’

“Calm down, wait for the police to arrive,” a male voice said off-camera.

“Calm down,” added a woman dressed in red.

An altercation broke out when the alleged attacker attempted to fight the worker who was sitting on top of him.

“My foot hurts!” he shouted. “I’m going to attack this bastard.”

“Are you hurt, my friend?” the woman in red asked.

“Yes,” he replied.

The alleged attacker explained that his foot was already “injured.”

He then pointed at the worker, claiming that if he had not been injured he would not have allowed him to “get off of him.”

Moments later, the alleged attacker was seen sitting upright on the road.

“You have nothing on camera,” he said.

‘Shut up!’ the worker shouted, prompting another foul-mouthed response from the alleged offender.

The alleged offender was questioned by a New South Wales Police officer.

The alleged attacker insisted he “did nothing” before insulting one of the women, saying he had seen them at “the brothel.”

“I’m going to charge you and your company,” he said.

“Try to calm down,” said the woman in red.

The alleged attacker then threatened to file assault charges against the worker.

He was later seen talking to a police officer in front of an apartment building.

“These two started hitting each other for some reason. I don’t know why,” he said.

“They say I stole something. I have a hurt foot. I didn’t steal anything. I have a broken foot.”

A New South Wales Police spokesman confirmed officers had responded to a fight.

Upon arrival, officers located two members of the public detaining a man,” he said.

‘Police were told another man had entered a nearby vehicle and attempted to steal possessions before fleeing.

“No arrests have been made, but investigations are continuing.”
