Travis Kelce leaves fans in stitches as he collects Sportsman of the Year at 2024 Kansas City Sports Awards... after dashing back from Taylor Swift's Rhode Island mansion

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce landed back in Kansas City to accept the Polsinelli Sportsman of the Year honor at the Kansas City Sports Awards.

Kelce left Swift’s mansion in the coastal town of Westerly early in the morning to catch a flight to Missouri for the ceremony.

The tight end charmed the crowd during an interview as part of the festivities, generating plenty of laughs as he told several stories.

That included his recent catch of Patrick Mahomes, after the quarterback threw the ball from behind his back to get to Kelce after running the wrong route.

“It was like it was in slow motion. The ball was there, available to anyone. Sure enough, I was running the wrong route, but I still got the first down.”

Travis Kelce accepted the Kansas City Sportsman of the Year award Tuesday night.

Kelce was spotted leaving Rhode Island on Monday morning, leaving girlfriend Taylor Swift's mansion in the coastal town of Westerly before hopping on this early plane.

He continued to praise his quarterback, admiring his creativity when asked about other passes Mahomes might try.

“Who knows what pass he had up his sleeve? He didn’t do it behind the back because everyone wanted him to do it. It’s been recorded that he’ll only do it when it’s necessary. You know what I mean? When he has to do it.

“I think the fun thing about playing with him is that he’s just naturally an incredible player, capable of doing those kinds of things and with so much confidence. You never know what can happen.

Kelce added: “I’d say the most creative of them all is Andy Reid. The more things Coach Reid lets us do, the more things we’re going to see on the field.”

The tight end also talked about the opportunities he has had off the field and how they have impacted his life both currently and in the future.

‘Some of this stuff I can’t even wrap my head around. When I did SNL two years ago, I had no idea that opportunity would come my way. I think it’s just about taking advantage of the opportunities that come your way and not having a defined ending.

‘I’m just curious and adventurous in different career fields knowing that football is going to end for everyone except (assistant coach Steve Spagnuolo).’

Kelce then thanked the Kansas City community for everything they have done and shared his appreciation for them.

“Thank you all for everything you do in this community. I’ve been here for 12 years. I love the support you get.”

“That’s why I came out tonight, to make sure that you guys see the faces of the people who love you as much as you love them. So I appreciate you all so much.”

Kelce returned to Kansas City after spending time in the Ocean State enjoying the company of Swift and actress Blake Lively.
