Whoopi Goldberg slammed her co-hosts on The View, telling them that it ‘really annoys’ her that they buy into the various conspiracy theories surrounding the Princess of Wales as she defended the future Queen of England during a very heated debate.
A Hot Topic segment about Kate became very heated during Wednesday’s episode of the ABC show when Sunny Hostin claimed that a photograph of the future queen, 42, and her husband, Prince William, sitting in a car had also been photoshopped , while Joy Behar brutally declared: ‘I don’t trust the royal family!’
But their wild claims about the royals were not tolerated by Whoopi, 68, who appeared to be growing increasingly irritated by her co-hosts’ speculation, blasting them for asking her “stupid questions” as they argued about the editing of a Mother’s Day photograph of Kate and her three children which was withdrawn by image agencies over fears of “manipulation”.
When mum-of-three Sara shouted: ‘I’m worried about Kate,’ Whoopi warned her she would ‘get hammered’ for her comments and told the ladies: ‘It’s not cute or funny.’

Sara Haines admitted she is ‘concerned’ about the future Queen of England and the ‘media frenzy has been dangerous’ for the royal family
Whoopi was clearly frustrated with Sara and her co-host Joy Behar (right) as they discussed Kate and the Photoshopping drama
Sunny Hostin jumped out of her seat to point out to the panel why she believes a new photo of Kate sitting in the back of a car with Prince William has been photoshopped
When Joy, 81, told Whoopi she was ‘getting too angry now’, the Sister Act star shot back: ‘Yes! Because people do this to you… you didn’t have it done to you!’ to which Sunny chimed in, joking: ‘It’s Sara’s fault!’
But Whoopi was having none of it, shouting: ‘No, no, it’s our fault for buying into this. When you buy into this, when they start doing it to your family, or they start doing it to your kids, it’s not cute, it’s not fun, and it really pisses me off.’
Her frustration comes just two days after she defended Kate’s editing skills on Monday’s show and admitted knowing ‘very few people who don’t manipulate their own photos’.
In response to Kate’s statement, in which she admitted to ‘editing’ the photograph of her and her children, Whoopi said: ‘You know what, I’ve got to tell you. She may be the future queen, (but) she is still an amateur photographer. That’s what they do!’
Wednesday’s discussion began when Whoopi announced: ‘The conspiracy theories about Princess Kate and the royal family photo keep piling higher and higher, what the hell is going on here?’ when Sunny claimed that Sara was ‘responsible’ for her going ‘down a rabbit hole’.
Confirming that she has now got husband Emmanuel involved, Sunny continued: ‘Sara keeps texting me about pictures and where it’s dealt with and yesterday they released another picture of Kate in a car, and you can’t see Kate and now I got Manny to look at the picture and Manny said the brick won’t fit through the glass.’
The mum-of-two then jumped out of her seat to head over to the screen to point out the details of the royal photo as Whoopi rubbished her theory, saying: ‘All this does is show you don’t know what’s going on in buildings!’
‘No, no, it’s a Photoshop!’ Sunny shot back when Whoopi asked her, ‘Can you knock it?’ to which the lawyer replied, ‘I knock on my husband’s surgeon’s eyes!’ as Alyssa claimed the Palace could ‘solve this in two minutes by putting her directly on camera’.
Whoopi told her co-host Sara that she would be “hammered” for her comments about Kate and the royal family
Sunny accused Sara of sending her ‘down a rabbit hole’ because she keeps texting her about the royal family
The drama began when picture agencies recalled this Mother’s Day photo of the Princess of Wales with her three children; Prince Louis, 5, Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 8
After news agencies said the Mother’s Day photo was manipulated beyond their standards, the Princess of Wales issued an apology
Whoopi couldn’t hide her annoyance as she tried to take the show to a commercial break, but as the music started to play, the bickering continued and the theme song quickly stopped.
‘I’m worried about her, I don’t know what’s wrong,’ said Sara, 46, while Joy added: I don’t trust the royal family to be truthful,’ as Sara continued: ‘I’m worried about Kate. People think it’s because we hate them, but I’m actually worried about Kate.
‘I think the frenzy in the media has been dangerous for their family and they should come out with a video to say, “hey, I’m fine”, that’s all I need,’ she suggested when Whoopi shot back, ‘This is the part I don’t understand, why do you think it’s important to them what you need?’
“They don’t, but then stop taking pictures and give me anything!” Sara yelled back when Alyssa pointed out that the Mother’s Day photograph was ‘officially released by the palace’.
‘When I worked in the White House, the White House photo office ethically couldn’t alter pictures, so if Trump had ketchup on him, they couldn’t edit it. The palace has an ethical guideline that journalists expect them to follow,’ explained the 34-year-old.
But Whoopi was keen to get her to say one more time and defended the photograph while telling her co-hosts to stop asking her ‘stupid questions’.
‘I think she took the picture and gave it to them because she wanted to take responsibility for the story being put out… not thinking like most people who photograph their pictures,’ as Joy asked: ‘Why didn’t she just get the family together and have a photographer take the picture?’
Sara had her head in her hands as she exclaimed: ‘Because she’s not there!’ before asking for the show to go to commercial – but Whoopi refused.
Viewers tuning in at home took to Twitter to comment on Whoopi defending the royals
A fan of The View joked that Whoopi’s ‘blood pressure must be high’
Another suggested Whoopi was ‘really mad’ at Hot Topic
Whoopi was determined to have the last word on the subject as Sara kept repeating that she was ‘worried’ about Kate
‘No, no, I’m going to put it out because you’re getting hammered for this,’ Whoopi told her, before adding: ‘I’m just going to say it. It’s just speculation and we’re having fun, okay? You just need to know that we know that we don’t know!’
Viewers tuning in at home had plenty of thoughts on the heated debate and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment.
‘Damn Whoopi is defending these royals. Move on to a new topic #theview,” one person wrote, while another claimed: “Whoopi is really angry about this #TheView.”
A third person joked: ‘Whoopi’s blood pressure must be high as hell behind this doctored Kate pic! #TheView,’ and a fourth referred to the king, suggesting: ‘#TheView looks like Whoopi is getting a little sloppy there. I guess her friendship with Charles makes her defensive on this subject.’
Another noted: ‘Whoopi aggressively defends Kate Middleton’s “photoshop” again, and another viewer wrote: ‘Lmao, Sara is funny! #TheView.’
