Nikola Jokic spent an astronomical six-figure sum to ensure all 11 players on Serbia’s Olympic basketball team had a Rolex on their wrists after winning bronze.
The NBA MVP gave a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona to each of his countrymen who played in Paris earlier this summer as a token of his appreciation to them, according to Blic.
The Serbian tabloid reported that the model costs around $32,500.
In total, Jokic spent $357,000 to buy the watches.
But NBA fans weren’t necessarily impressed with Jokic’s gesture, with some questioning why he didn’t show any appreciation toward his teammates on the Denver Nuggets, with whom he won a championship in 2023.
Nikola Jokic has paid a significant sum to show his gratitude to his Serbian teammates.
The 29-year-old NBA center bought a Rolex Daytona Cosmograph for each of his 11 teammates
“Where are Jama Murray and MPJ’s watches?” one person asked on X, to which another person replied: “They make enough to buy their own.”
Another fan agreed that Jokic’s Denver teammates make “huge NBA salaries so they don’t need (gifts).”
Someone else claimed that Jokic’s $357,000 buyout “is like a nickel to him.”
Much to the delight of many fans, Jokic has earned $198,124,795 in career NBA earnings, according to Sportrac.
NBA fans wondered why Jokic didn’t show any gratitude towards his Nuggets after winning the title.
