Generation Z has revealed what age they consider “old” and places Salma Hayek, Mike Tyson and Gordan Ramsay among the geriatric.
A total of 2,000 adults participated in the study, highlighting some of the clear generational differences, particularly between Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012) and Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964).
Young people under 27 believe that old age comes at the end of 50, and that retirement mainly involves sitting in an armchair (20 percent) and “messing around” (16 percent).
This would mean that Gordan Ramsay, Mike Tyson and Salma Hayek are geriatric in the eyes of 57-year-olds.
But boomers believe 60 is the new 40, and two-thirds of participants said they felt younger than they are.
According to the study, one in five boomers feel up to 20 years younger than their true age, and one-fifth (18 percent) say they are having the time of their lives.
Boomers are the most active generation, typically spending four more hours outdoors after work hours compared to young adults and millennial workers.
And they are more likely to enjoy traveling and exploring new places, and more likely to spend time exercising (56 percent) compared to 18- to 27-year-olds who were the least likely (39 percent).
Actress Salma Hayek (pictured) would be considered geriatric to Generation Z who participated in the survey. She is 57 years old and was born on September 2, 1966.
Chef Gordan Ramsay (pictured) is also 57 years old and would be considered old by Generation Z.
Professional boxer Mike Tyson is also 57 years old and would be considered geriatric of Generation Z, according to the survey
It also emerged that 68 percent of Boomers considered themselves active individuals, but 37 percent were restricted from doing whatever they wanted due to health problems and chronic joint pain.
A spokesperson for Wellsoon at Practice Plus Group, which commissioned the study, said: “Older generations are extremely active, and many older people are more active than some of their younger friends and family; almost half of younger people say they are too busy.” Overworked and too tired prevented them from being more active.
‘Older people are making the most of their retirement and have reached an age where they feel comfortable in their own skin and appreciate their bodies and health.
‘Of all generations, those aged 79 and over were the ones who most loved having fun with friends.
“They are not willing to accept that joint pain is something you have to endure just because you are ‘old’; they will see it as an obstacle in the way that they must overcome in order to enjoy many more happy moments.” and active years.’

When considering the meaning of “getting older,” a quarter of Boomers associated it with not being as healthy as they were when they were younger.
While 22 percent of Millennials thought they would lose their looks and change their appearance.
However, according to OnePoll data, there is a lot of hope, as over-60s celebrities like Helen Mirren, Judi Dench and George Clooney are the biggest inspirations for all age groups when it comes to aging well and staying active.
Globetrotter Michael Palin, who turns 81 this week, is one of the most inspiring celebrities of the Boomer and Silent generation.
Boomers said it was when they reached age 38 that they learned to appreciate their bodies, and 80 percent felt grateful for their physical well-being.
A spokesperson for Wellsoon at Practice Plus Group added: ‘We have always known that people who come to us for hip and knee replacements and hernia repair are not doing so to return to their chairs.
“They want to go dancing, bike riding, hiking, swimming on vacation, and running in the park with their grandchildren.”

Linda MacDonald, 74, from Chard, Somerset, recently completed her 117th Park Run 5K despite having a total knee replacement last year.
She said: “I was so worried I wouldn’t run again after the surgery.” Before my operation I thought my running days might be over,” says Linda, a retired Chard school teacher.
‘With the agreement of the hospital team, he made a gradual return, taking part in weekly fitness and weight training classes to strengthen his muscles and riding an electric bike to improve his fitness.
After short runs in her local area, last Christmas Linda returned to her beloved Parkrun in Taunton with her daughter and son-in-law.

‘I feel like I have been given a gift and a new beginning. I look to the future and I have always said that I want to race when I am 80 years old. Running 5km regularly is part of my lifestyle and I love the atmosphere of Parkrun and competing against myself.
‘My time is probably 10 minutes slower than before my surgery, but I’ll make it. I have a new life and can continue doing all the things I enjoy and have recently started playing golf again!’
