A mother has told of the terrifying moment she was mauled to death by a rottweiler while out walking her dog near her home.

Shue Leung had been walking her Shih Tzu in North Baddesley, Hampshire, when she was dragged to the ground by the dog.

The rottweiler, which had been off-leash at the time, attacked her as she grabbed onto her own dog to try to keep it from harm.

Dramatic CCTV footage shows the huge dog paddling Ms Leung and her seven-year-old pet Mushroom watching them for a few seconds before attacking the smaller animal.

Shue can be seen trying to pull Mushroom away from the Rottweiler before she falls over and the dog continues its savage attack – this time on her face.

The 52-year-old woman was left in a ‘pool of blood’ and suffered horrific injuries.

The Rottweiler was put down after the attack. The man has been questioned by the police and the investigation is still ongoing.

The elderly owner of the dog then rushes over and hits it to drive it away.

He then appears to help beat Mrs Leung, gesturing at the dog to keep it away as it watches.

An ambulance was called by a passerby and Shue was taken to hospital, where around 70 stitches were required to close the wound to the side of her face.

Recalling the attack, she said: ‘I was walking my dog. Every morning we do it around that time.

‘Just outside our neighbors I noticed a rottweiler off the lead without a muzzle. The owner walked very far behind him.

‘That’s where the rottweiler saw us. I raised my dog hoping to catch him.

‘With all his strength he pushed me to the ground. He tried to grab my dog’s forearm.

‘I held my dog. I was curled up so the rottweiler couldn’t get to my dog.

‘After the dog then attacked me, the owner then ran to stop the dog. If the owner had been a little slower, my face could have been worse.’

Ms Leung, who works as a front of house for a fast food restaurant, said she was left in ‘terrible’ pain and had to wait around four hours in hospital for surgery.

When she finally had the operation, she spent five hours in theater and said when they cleaned her wound it was ‘terrible’.

The incident took place around 9:40 a.m. on March 1, but in the weeks since, she has not been able to return to work and said she is worried about people seeing her injuries.

She said when her family saw her injuries, ‘they were shocked’, adding: ‘My son saw it and he couldn’t handle it.

‘I will definitely be scarred for life.

‘I don’t want people to see my scars. I don’t want to see the dogs to be honest. I’m afraid to go out.’

She added: ‘I don’t even bother to look at myself in the mirror.’

Hampshire Police said they were called at 9.50am on Friday March 1 to reports that a woman had been bitten on the head by the dog.

A spokesman said: ‘She suffered serious and potentially life-changing injuries that required hospital treatment.’

Officers have also confirmed that the dog has since been ‘humanely euthanized’ after its owner, a man in his 70s, ‘voluntarily surrendered’ the animal to police.
