A New York City prison inmate was stabbed 44 times by members of the MS-13 gang in a horrific attack that has shone a spotlight on conditions at the notorious jail.

Shocking video obtained by New York Daily News It shows the brutal frenzy unfolding at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center in April.

The agonizing attack continues for 37 seconds before a single correctional officer rushes to intervene.

The victim survived but her ordeal is being used as evidence of the nightmarish conditions at the jail, which lawyers, judges and inmates including sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell have complained about.

The clip shows him sitting at a table in the common area when one of the gang members approaches and pulls something out of his waistband.

A New York City prison inmate was stabbed 44 times by members of the MS-13 gang in a horrific attack that has shone a spotlight on conditions at the notorious jail.

The attacker, believed to be violent criminal Luis ‘Inquieto’ Rivas, pulls his arm back and plunges it into the victim.

As he begins to writhe in pain, two other suspects move in to help restrain him and begin to sink their own weapons.

They drag the victim out of his chair and throw him to the ground, while stabbing him furiously all over.

The victim continues to writhe on the ground as the blows continue to fall.

Finally, a lone correctional officer runs away and the group of attackers flee the scene.

Meanwhile, the victim manages to get up and stagger out of the frame leaving blood splatters on the floor.

Shortly after, another officer appears on the scene with his baton raised and begins to chase one of the inmates.

More personnel arrive at the scene and one of the suspects is eventually seen being led away in handcuffs.

Rivas, the prime suspect, is currently serving a 35-year sentence for the beheading of a 16-year-old boy who refused to execute a friend on the orders of his gang boss.

Rivas was given an additional five years in prison for stabbing a rival gang member at the now-closed Manhattan Detention Complex, where Jeffrey Epstein was housed before his suicide.

Prison guards found on him and one of the other attackers two knives, one five and a half inches long and the other ten and a half inches.

No additional charges have yet been filed in connection with this latest prison stabbing, but Rivas faces internal disciplinary action.

MS-13 is an international criminal gang founded in Los Angeles by Salvadoran immigrants who came to the United States to escape civil war in their home country, according to the Justice Department.

The prison attack is the latest in a long series of incidents that have sparked complaints about conditions.

In one case, staff sat on a patient’s CT scans indicating he had cancer, causing the mass in his lungs to double in size while he awaited treatment.

Last year, a report indicated that 44 percent of prison officer positions were vacant.

“I’ve been here for decades. The conditions at MDC are the worst I’ve ever seen,” defense attorney Anthony Ricco told the NY Daily News. “What we’re seeing is really a total breakdown of professionalism at these facilities.”

Emery Nelson, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, said the agency has assigned an “executive-level after-action team” to review the stabbing and the killings in June and July.

“The assigned team includes senior supervisory employees from outside Brooklyn to review all aspects of the incidents and provide a detailed report for consideration of corrective actions,” he said.
