Australia’s consumer watchdog has issued an urgent recall of a hydraulic jack sold at Supercheap Auto stores, warning the product could cause serious injury or death to customers.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) says the ToolPRO 1600kg Low Profile Hydraulic Jack poses a serious health risk because “the front wheel axle, lift arm pivot shaft or cylinder pivot shaft may break during normal use.”

“This can also occur when the jack is not in use,” the regulator warns.

“There is a risk of serious injury or even death if the jack fails and causes the vehicle to collapse on a consumer.”

The ACCC says only batches beginning with the codes TH202311 will be recalled.

Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and check the manufacturing batch for their cat.

“The manufacturing batch is marked on a white label placed near the instructions label,” the watchdog said.

‘Consumers with recalled products should return them to their nearest Supercheap Auto store for a replacement unit or refund.’

The product was sold nationwide and online between January 9 and May 1 of this year.
