Former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles is retiring from the NFL after an 11-year career.
Foles shared the news on social media Thursday, spending last season out of football for the first time since being drafted in 2012.
Foles played for six teams and is best known for leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl victory in 2018, spending the final weeks as the team’s starter, replacing the injured Carson Wentz.
“After much thought and prayer, I have decided to retire from the NFL,” Foles said on social media. “It has been an incredible 11-year journey filled with unforgettable moments and wonderful people.”
“From being drafted by the Eagles to winning the Super Bowl, every step has been a blessing. I’m excited to spend more time with my family and begin the next chapter of my life. Thank you to all of my teammates, coaches, team staff and fans for your unwavering support. I will be forever grateful,” Foles continued.
