A man was left fighting for his life after being allegedly stabbed on a busy highway.
The 35-year-old man was found with multiple cuts on Canning Highway, South Perth, at around 2.40pm on Wednesday.
A Western Australian Police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia that two men had allegedly arranged to meet the 35-year-old.
“It is alleged that at around 2.30pm the defendant was walking along Canning Highway, armed with a knife and in the company of another man,” he said.
‘An altercation broke out between the three men, during which the 35-year-old victim was stabbed several times. The other two men fled the scene on foot.’
Police and paramedics rushed to the gruesome scene before closing off surrounding roads.
The man was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area while the search for the two men was underway.

Detectives swarmed the nearby Como Bowling and Recreation Club, where a wake was being held, before finding a man in the toilets and arresting him.
A WA Police spokesman said the 18-year-old man was detained before being released without charge.
A witness who attended the wake said the teenager appeared “shaken.”
“Suddenly, we noticed all the police officers quietly coming in and going down to the bathroom… we were wondering what was going on,” he said. Western Australia.

The search for the second man continued, with police and forensic teams collecting evidence at the scene.

The man was charged with grievous bodily harm and possession of an article with intent to injure (incapacitate).

The man is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on July 18.

Hairdresser Paul O’Sullivan, who works nearby, said ABC Radio Perth He had left the living room when he heard a commotion.
“There was a guy on the sidewalk across the street who was on the ground, some cars had stopped with him,” he said.
“There was blood everywhere. It was very shocking.”
Sullivan said two people saw him and ran from the scene to a side street before the barber found the injured man.
“There was a large axe, like a pickaxe, on the path next to him,” he said.
