Horrified shoppers got more than they bargained for when they stumbled upon a couple appearing to have sex behind the frosted glass door of a disabled toilet.

The naked couple were apparently caught in the act at the Sunshine Plaza shopping center in Maroochydore, Queensland.

Footage of the energetic encounter, which was shared on the ‘S*** Maroochydore’ Instagram page on Sunday, appeared to show a man clad only in socks and shoes pushed towards his unseen companion as stunned shoppers looked on.

Social media users were quick to make jokes at the couple’s expense, with some suggesting the man was simply performing the Heimlich maneuver.

Another said: “I hope they used better protection than that provided by the door.”

Others were more concerned that handicap bathrooms had a partially transparent door.

Sunshine Plaza center manager Michael Manwaring said local police had been notified.

“Sunshine Plaza has a comprehensive security management program which includes CCTV surveillance at the entrance and in the centre, 24/7 security patrols and regular police presence,” Mr Manwaring said. news.com.au.
