Plus-size travel influencer Jaelyn Chaney criticized the weight-loss drug Ozempic as she teamed up with a law firm to encourage people to sue the company.
Chaney took to TikTok to attack the drug in a sponsored post, where he criticized it for being driven by “marketing campaigns and celebrity endorsements.”
“It was originally developed to manage diabetes, but has since become a solution for intentional weight loss,” he said, stating that anyone who suffered side effects may be entitled to financial compensation.
The influencer said she partnered with Allied Law to urge people to sue Ozempic and similar companies.
His comments come months after Chaney sparked backlash by demanding that airlines give free seats to obese travelers on planes, suggesting that not being able to fit into a seat is “discrimination.”
Plus-size travel influencer Jaelyn Chaney criticized weight loss drug Ozempic and urged people to sue the company.
Chaney told his followers that anyone who experiences side effects of the medication, such as severe vomiting, may be entitled to financial compensation.
Chaney began his appeal against the weight-loss drug by telling his 135,000 followers: “We need to have a conversation about Ozempic.”
After criticizing the drug’s “celebrity endorsements,” such as Oprah Winfrey, she asked her followers, “Have you been negatively affected after taking Ozempic?”
“If you or a loved one experiences serious side effects after taking Ozempic, such as severe vomiting, you may be entitled to financial compensation,” he said.
“There are now hundreds of lawsuits against brands like Ozempic.”
He said he “partnered” with Allied Law to encourage others to join such lawsuits, noting that the law firm specializes in “those affected by harmful medications.”
“Bringing legal action against brands like Ozempic is now easier than ever,” Chaney continued. ‘If you want to take legal action now, all you have to do is click the link in my bio. It’s super short and easy.’
“Don’t let social pressures to lose weight quickly jeopardize your well-being,” he concluded.
“Together, let’s hold brands like Ozempic accountable for the harm they are causing.”
Chaney previously came under scrutiny when he demanded that airlines give free extra seats to obese passengers.
The influencer got thousands of signatures for a petition for additional free seats and considered that not being able to occupy a seat amounts to “discrimination”
He admitted he did not know who would bear the cost of the changes, but suggested the Department of Transport had some responsibility in providing safe and comfortable journeys for everyone.
Chaney’s sponsored post came after she found viral fame as a ‘plus-size travel influencer.’
Most notably, he garnered thousands of signatures for a petition last year demanding that airlines give free extra seats to obese passengers.
He wanted the US Federal Aviation Authority to “protect” plus-size travelers and make flying economy class “comfortable and accessible to everyone.”
Chaney also wants airlines to be forced to reimburse overweight passengers for extra seats they are forced to purchase when booking to accommodate their size.
“As plus-size travelers, my partner and I have unfortunately experienced discrimination and discomfort while flying,” she wrote in her petition.
All plus-sized passengers should be provided with an additional free seat, or even two or three seats depending on their size, to meet their needs and ensure their comfort during the flight.’
Turning the focus back to refunds, Chaney added: “Airlines should offer a refund to plus-size passengers who purchase additional seats independently. This should be a simple process that can be accessed online or through customer service.’
In her posts as a ‘plus-size travel influencer,’ Chaney has extensively documented her struggles with flying, from showing her and her boyfriend crammed into seats to showing what some passengers have told her, even asking her if she bought two seats.
Chaney admitted that ticket prices would have to increase if he wanted his way, and admitted that non-overweight passengers could face higher costs to help cover the improvements.
‘During a flight from Pasco to Denver, my fiancé was subjected to hateful comments, disapproving looks, and even refusal to sit next to them, which amounts to discrimination.
“Similarly, on another flight I was forced to occupy only a seat with immovable armrests, which caused me pain and bruising.”
In her other social media posts, Chaney has extensively documented her difficulties flying, from showing her and her boyfriend crammed into seats to showing what some passengers have told her, even asking her if she bought two seats.
