Oregon wide receiver Traeshon Holden was ejected for spitting at an Ohio State player during Saturday’s highly anticipated matchup between the No. 3 Ducks and the No. 2 Buckeyes.

Holden was seen spitting on cornerback Davison Igbinosun’s mask after being attacked by Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

There appeared to be some contact between Igbinosun and Holden, which prevented the Ducks receiver from making the play. The two continued chirping afterwards, which was when Holden appeared to spit at Igbinosun.

Holden was quickly ejected and escorted off the field, where he was seen throwing his helmet in disgust.

The unsportsmanlike penalty proved costly for the Ducks, who were ejected 15 yards. As a result, Oregon settled for a field goal to take a 15-14 lead.

Just two plays earlier, Holden caught a 32-yard pass to move the Ducks across midfield.

College football fans, never a forgiving bunch, were furious about the incident.

“I’m going to lose my bet for spitting,” wrote one angry X user

“Play stupid games, win stupid prizes,” another added. ‘What were you thinking Holden?’

Some fans even agreed with the shoving, but refrained from spitting.

“That’s horrible,” he wrote in person. ‘Talk and push, don’t spit at anyone. “This guy has serious discipline problems, doing this in the most important game of your life is ridiculous.”

Originally from Kissimmee, Florida, Holden previously played at Alabama before transferring to Oregon.

Over three seasons with the Tide, Holden recorded 25 receptions for 570 yards and seven touchdowns.

He was briefly banned from the Ducks following the 2022 season after being arrested in Eugene on allegations of unlawful use of a weapon and coercion charges.

Holden was later acquitted of all charges.
