Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting marriages.

The actress, 57, and the country singer, 56, have been married for 18 years and share two daughters: Sunday Rose, 15, and Faith Margaret, 13.

While interviewing her friend Victoria Beckham – which is celebrating its 25th anniversary with David Beckham – for Vogue AustraliaThe Oscar winner shared the best relationship advice she’s ever received.

“The best advice I was given was that there is the individual, meaning there is me and you, and there is us. And that is just you,” he revealed.

The Big Little Lies star continued: ‘No one else has what you two create, or what Keith and I create, any married couple that’s a couple, any person that’s chosen to be in a relationship together, we created this, so we decide what this is.’

She added: “If you really like the person, if you really love them, but you also really like them, God, that helps.”

The A Family Affair actress also highlighted the importance of commitment, a good rule to follow in any relationship, whether romantic or platonic.

‘There are also concessions to be made. Many. It is always a matter of trial and error, and sometimes there are imbalances and then the balance is restored… We do not boast about it.

“People always ask me, ‘What’s your advice about marriage?’ We don’t have any! Everyone does what they want and creates it. I’m not a relationship guru. I’m just trying to find my own way,” Kidman said.

The Big Little Lies actress went on to talk about what a healthy relationship is and sounded like a very wise therapist.

‘Normal emotions of fear and insecurity don’t have to be repressed or denied. They may be there, but they can be overcome.

‘That’s what I tell my daughters: There’s a lot going on behind closed doors, but you always have to ask yourself: Am I able to get through the discomfort? Because the expectation that everything will be wonderful all the time just doesn’t exist.

“There will be a lot of things that will happen on a journey together and it is beautiful and that is okay,” she concluded.
