After the death of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari due to cardiac arrest, Umar Ansari, son of Mukhtar Ansari, alleged that his father was given poison in food and said they would move to the judiciary. “We have full confidence in it,” he added.
“I was not told anything from the government side, I came to know about it through the media… But now the whole nation knows everything… Two days ago I came to meet him but I was not allowed… We have it also said earlier and even today we will say the same about the charge of giving slow poison. On March 19, he was poisoned during dinner. We will go to the judiciary, we have full confidence in it… “Umar Ansari , son of Mukhtar Ansari, said.
“Post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow, after which they will give us the body. We will then proceed with the further process (cremation)… My father claimed that he was given a slow poison… There is a panel of approx. five doctors have been made (to conduct the autopsy),” Umar Ansari added.
Meanwhile, the body of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari has been sent to Banda Medical College Hospital in Banda for post-mortem.
Following the death of the five-time MLA, several political leaders expressed their condolences. On Thursday, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi expressed his grief in support of Mukhtar Ansari’s family.
“I pray to Allah to forgive Mukhtar Ansari and grant patience to his family and loved ones. The people of Ghazipur lost their favorite son and brother. Mukhtar Saheb had leveled serious allegations against the government that he had been poisoned. The government has not paid any attention to his treatment. Reprehensible and deplorable,” AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi wrote on X.
Samajwadi Party leader Ameeque Jamei demanded a thorough investigation into Mukhtar Ansari’s death.
“We stand with the family of Mukhtar Ansari… Recently he said that he could be killed at any time… Why he was not provided proper medical facility… We will demand a thorough investigation into the incident… “
Congress leader Surendra Rajput also questioned the death of gangster and politician Mukhtar Ansari due to cardiac arrest.
“Today, Mukhtar Ansari’s death in jail raises a big question. The BJP-led UP government… This needs to be thoroughly investigated so that everyone comes to know what is going on…” said Congress leader Surendra Rajput.
The feared gangster was taken to hospital around 8:25 p.m., according to the hospital’s official press release. A team of nine doctors attended to him before he died, the release added.
Expressing condolences on the death of Mukhtar Ansari, the Samajwadi Party shared a message on Twitter that read: “Sad demise of former MLA Shri Mukhtar Ansari. May his soul rest in peace. May the relatives have the strength to bear this immense grief. . Modest tribute!”.
On Tuesday, he was admitted to a hospital in Banda in Uttar Pradesh after he complained of stomach pain. After his discharge on Tuesday, he was then transferred to Rani Durgawati Medical College in Uttar Pradesh.
Ansari was elected as an MLA from the Mau Assembly seat five times, including twice as a candidate of the Bahujan Samaj Party. He had a strong influence in Ghazipur, his birthplace.
In April 2023, Mukhtar Ansari was sentenced to 10 years in prison by an MP MLA court for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai. He was sentenced to life in prison on March 13, 2024, in a case related to the use of forged documents to obtain a gun permit in 1990.
Previously, in December 2023, the Varanasi MP/MLA court had found Mukhtar Ansari guilty of threatening Mahavir Prasad Rungta, a witness in the murder of 26-year-old coal businessman Nand Kishor Rungta, and sentenced him to five and one six months rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
On October 15 last year, the Enforcement Directorate seized land, a building and bank deposits worth over Rs 73.43 lakh as part of the money laundering probe against Mukhtar Ansari.
