FA Cup final winner Kobbie Mainoo showed his quick thinking isn’t just something he shows on the pitch, with a move in Man United’s post-match celebrations.

Manioo’s first-half goal at Wembley, with United already 1-0 up, proved to be the winner as Erik ten Hag’s side overcame rivals Man City to take out the FA Cup.

The United midfielder also proved to be a hero during the celebrations, as the players enjoyed their victory in the Wembley dressing room.

As the celebrations raged, Lisandro Martínez gathered everyone together for a photo with the trophy, before dousing the team and coach with a customary bottle of champagne.

However, instead of diving into the fun of the moment, Mainoo grabbed his teammate Amad Diallo and pulled him out of the way of the alcohol being sprayed.

The reason he thought about getting Diallo out of the way of the fizz coming his way is due to the 21-year-old’s Muslim faith, a religion that has strict rules on alcohol consumption.

So, while the rest of the United team welcomed the champagne they were served, Mainoo and Diallo remained on the sidelines, after the young English midfielder came to his team-mate’s aid.

The celebrations will continue over the next few days after United clinched their 13th FA Cup gong and confirmed European football for next season.

Alejandro Garnacho got the Red Devils going in the first half, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up between Stefan Ortega and Josip Gvardiol, before Mainoo doubled their lead before the break.

City recovered late thanks to a consolation from Jeremy Doku, but United held on to prevent their rivals from making more history and claim back-to-back doubles.

The victory presents a major dilemma for minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who was reportedly set to sack Ten Hag this week, whatever the result at Wembley. With the likes of Kieran McKenna, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino linked to the Dutchman’s position.
