Jack Grealish will not be part of the Euro 2024 squad and Gareth Southgate is set to confirm the seven players he dropped from his original squad.
Harry Maguire, as Mail Sport predicted this afternoon, will also miss out with a calf injury.
The remaining five omissions are expected to be confirmed as Curtis Jones, Jarell Quansah, Jarrad Branthwaite, James Maddison and James Trafford.
But Grealish has now paid the price for his disappointing campaign at Manchester City.
Doubts had been raised over Harry Maguire’s fitness ahead of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad announcement.
Jack Grealish (pictured today) paid the price for his disappointing season at Man City, where he made just ten Premier League starts on his way to a fourth consecutive title.
Manchester United defender Maguire, who would have likely started, will miss out with a calf injury
James Trafford and Jarrad Branthwaite will also be confirmed as omissions.
The England centre-back has not played since April and was expected to miss tomorrow’s final warm-up match against Iceland.
And fitness concerns surrounding Maguire are creating huge uncertainty over his inclusion in Southgate’s final 26-man squad, in news that will emerge as a major blow.
There is no confirmation from the FA on Maguire’s availability for the tournament, but if he is not selected it would be the first time Southgate has entered a major tournament without the Manchester United man.
Elsewhere, Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones will also be among the players who will miss England’s final squad for Euro 2024.
Jones will join Maddison, who has also been told he won’t make the final cut.
The Anfield star received his first call-up when Gareth Southgate named his provisional 33-man squad for the tournament last month.
But he will miss the trip to Germany, as will Tottenham midfielder Maddison, who was widely seen as one of the players at risk of missing out after a largely disappointing second half of the season.
It is understood Maddison was in line to play in Friday’s final warm-up match against Iceland, but that will no longer be the case with Jarrod Bowen pushing for his place in the team. Sources indicate that Maddison’s decision to leave the team on Wednesday is linked to Southgate’s decision to leave him out of the final party.

Liverpool pair Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah miss the cut after earning their first call-up to the senior England squad.
Branthwaite and Trafford are also expected to be named as omissions.
Posting on X after news of his sacking broke today, Tottenham star Maddison said: “Devastated is not enough.” I trained well and worked hard all week, but if I’m honest with myself, my form for Spurs when I returned from injury in the second half of the season probably wasn’t at the levels I had set, which gave Gareth a decision to make.
“I still thought there would be a space for me in a 26-man team because I feel like I bring something different and I had been a pillar throughout this qualifying campaign for Euro 2024 in Germany, but the coach made the decision and I have to respect it.” . that.
‘I will return, I have no doubt. Wishing the guys all the luck in the world in Germany, amazing group and guys I literally call some of my best friends.
“I really hope football comes home.”
Maguire later posted: “I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer.
‘Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome a calf injury. Maybe I tried too hard to try to achieve it. I’m just absolutely devastated.
“For me, representing England is the greatest honour. It means everything to me. If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan, along with the rest of the country. Go and win, guys.
Both Maddison and Maguire posted statements on their social media accounts after the news broke.
“I will then return to overseeing Manchester United’s medical team to prepare for next season.”
Southgate speaks tonight at 6pm ahead of tomorrow night’s final warm-up match against Iceland.
