The BBC and ITV are locked in a battle to hire Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou for their Euro coverage.

sport mail understands that ITV appears to have the advantage in a two-way fight to get the Australian part of its expert team.

The pair are believed to have missed the late Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who will instead go to the tournament in his home country as a fan, while taking a well-deserved break from the game.

Postecoglou, who is currently in Australia with Spurs on their trip to play Newcastle in Melbourne, will be seen as an attractive candidate after an entertaining first season at Tottenham.

Postecoglou, a scholar of the game, is seen as a private figure removed from the game and his opinions may well give one broadcaster an advantage over the other.

An announcement on lineups is expected in the near future, possibly in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Leicester City defender Conor Coady has been signed by BBC Radio 5 Live. The 31-year-old was in both England teams during the last two major tournaments but failed to feature.

At Euro 2021, Coady was hailed as “player of the tournament” by assistant manager Steve Holland, who praised his impact on the England pitch.
