Fall: Germany’s GDP fell by 0.1% in the second quarter of this year
Germany is on the brink of a recession after its economy unexpectedly contracted.
Gross domestic product, a measure of economic growth, fell 0.1 percent in the second quarter of this year.

The slump in manufacturing and construction hit the economy hard and dealt a heavy blow to Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Germany is lagging far behind its eurozone neighbours and if the country registers another decline next quarter, it will be in recession.
In the UK, economists at the Bank of England will vote tomorrow on whether to cut rates.
