A truck lost its load on Fullers Road in the northern Sydney suburb of Chatswood, causing a huge spill that scattered hundreds of crushed oranges and vegetables over nearly 100 metres of the road.

The incident, which has been described as an “improvised fruit market”, occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

Jack Hahn of Channel 9’s Today show said he didn’t think the items would sell for much money because “they’re in such poor condition.”

He said the spill, which also included garlic, occurred in lane one heading toward Pacific Highway.

“Traffic is still moving in lane two,” he told 2GB’s Ben Fordham.

Hahn said it appeared the net on the left side of the truck had come loose.

Transportation crews on site are attempting to clean up the spill of mature water.
