Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has been arrested for allegedly drinking and driving, according to a report.

Lehmann is best known for being Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper during the Invincibles’ 2003–04 campaign, which saw the Gunners win the Premier League without losing a match.

Since his retirement, he has dabbled in acting, coaching and journalism, but, according to The sunHe was arrested by police wearing leather trousers after enjoying Oktoberfest celebrations in his home country.

This is what he reports IMAGE that the German was staggering and smelled of alcohol and that he had to be taken to the police station for further tests because he could not pass the breathalyzer tests.

His driving licence has reportedly been confiscated while police investigate the case.

Lehmann is said to have been drinking large mugs of beer during Sunday’s celebrations in Munich at the Bavarian beer festival.

He is also said to have been seen dancing on the benches of the Schutzenfest tent and wearing a traditional Bavarian dress.

A source told The Sun: “There are police officers roaming around Oktoberfest whose aim is to prevent drink driving.”

Public Prosecutor Anne Leiding said: “Mr Lehmann was subjected to a police check on 23 September 2024 at around 1:30 a.m. due to his unusual driving behaviour in a vehicle in central Munich.”

He added: ‘Police reportedly noticed a clear smell of alcohol and unsafe behaviour.

‘The breathalyzer test did not yield any useful results, so a blood sample was requested and the driving license was confiscated.

“Our investigations are still ongoing. Suspicions of drunk driving remain.”

Lehmann is believed to be a regular at the festival, having been pictured during the celebrations alongside Didier Drogba in 2011 and Invincibles team-mate Sol Campbell in 2012.

He was also expelled from Stuttgart in 2009 for attending the event without permission.

He is reported to have told Bild: “I can’t say anything about it at the moment.”
