Feyenoord are set to complete a deal for their coach Arne Slot to become Liverpool’s new boss in the next 48 hours.
Advanced talks between the two clubs will continue on Friday with the Dutch club hoping those talks will come to a positive conclusion after the Dutchman publicly admitted his desire to join Liverpool on Thursday night.
Informed sources believe a deal will be reached by the end of the weekend.
Feyenoord, as Mail Sport revealed earlier this week, want a minimum of £8.6m in compensation to release Slot from his contract.
The Dutch club are trying to force a deal that would see Liverpool pay more than €10m (£8.58m) for their manager, a sum that would not include members of staff who would follow him to England.
Liverpool could reach an agreement to sign Arne Slot by the end of this weekend
Talks for him to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield have progressed to advanced stages.
Slot is expected to bring some of his backroom staff to the Merseyside club.
The clubs have yet to agree on Slot’s fee, but sources insist a deal is not far off.
Slot wants to bring his assistant Sipke Hulshof to Anfield and possibly one more member of Feyenoord’s staff, expected to be performance boss Ruben Peeters, which would take the total compensation package closer to £13m.
However, Feyenoord do not want Slot to wipe out his entire squad when he moves to the Premier League and will stand firm against any attempts by Slot and Liverpool to bring several members of the Dutch club’s staff to Merseyside.
Slot confirmed his intention to join Liverpool, he said on Thursday night ahead of Feyenoord’s game against Go Ahead Eagles.

Earlier this week he revealed his intentions that he hoped to join Liverpool.
If he joins Liverpool, he will inherit a team that features several exciting young stars and some established players, including Virgil van Dijk, whose contract is due to expire soon.
‘The clubs are negotiating. “I’m waiting to see what will come of this,” he said.
‘It’s no secret that I would like to go to Liverpool. Now I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement. I have full confidence in it.’
