There is concern for an Australian tourist who has been missing in New Zealand for more than a week.

Elizabeth Wielga, 67, left her hotel in the Tongariro National Park area of ​​the North Island on August 30.

He was due to fly out of Auckland later that day but has yet to contact his family or arrive at his next destination.

“His family and police are concerned for his welfare and want to establish that he is safe,” local police said in a statement.

“Ms Wielga has neither a phone nor a computer. She may not realise that the police are trying to locate her.”

Police have received information that Ms Wielga may have travelled to Wellington on the South Island.

“Information suggests he may have intended to travel to Picton,” police said.

‘We encourage anyone who has seen Ms Wielga or has information that could help us locate her to contact us.’
