The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were so protective of their children’s “private lives” that they even refused to name the godparents of their son, Prince Archie.
So it’s fascinating to discover that Archie and his sister, Princess Lilibet, were the subject of a very glamorous photoshoot by one of Meghan’s favorite photographers.
I heard that New York-based Jake Rosenberg flew to California earlier this month, where he took a series of photos of Meghan alone, cooking, and of her with the children.
The photo shoot, at Prince Harry and Meghan’s Montecito mansion, coincided with the launch of Meghan’s lifestyle and culinary brand, American Riviera Orchard.
The business was revealed last week, in a glitzy Instagram video, in which Meghan could be seen busying herself in a rustic-looking kitchen. The video was posted a day after I contacted Meghan’s office for comment on her plans. American Riviera Orchard will focus on home, garden, food and lifestyle items.

This official christening photograph released by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shows the couple with their son, Archie.
The photoshoot coincided with the launch of Meghan’s lifestyle and food brand, American Riviera Orchard, and was shot by New York-based Jake Rosenberg (pictured), who has previously worked with Meghan.
Rosenberg, originally from Toronto in Canada, where Meghan spent six years while filming the legal television series Suits, photographed the duchess on several occasions. On his website, he states that “his lens has captured the brilliance of talents such as Meghan Markle, Oprah Winfrey, Priyanka Chopra, Cindy Crawford, David Beckham and Michael B. Jordan, revealing their authentic personalities through his vibrant images.” .
There have been very few photographs of Archie, who turns five in May, and Lily, two, released by their parents. They did it. however, features in Netflix’s sleazy documentary series about the couple.
A friend of Meghan’s confirms the photo shoot took place but insists they were “portraits for the family”. The friend said to me: “I wouldn’t connect them to the company.”
Rosenberg could not be reached for comment.
King’s goddaughter parties with her Argentinian boyfriend
Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark, goddaughter of King Charles, surprised friends and family when she split from Peregrine Pearson, son and heir of Viscount Cowdray, last year.
He has since started a new relationship with Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner, who is currently going through a divorce from American pop singer Joe Jonas.
Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark was seen with Argentine businessman Martin Pacanowski after splitting from Peregrine Pearson, son and heir of Viscount Cowdray, last year.
Meanwhile, it seems Olympia, 27, has no shortage of male admirers.
At a party in London this week, she was accompanied by Argentine businessman Martin Pacanowski.
The two were photographed arm in arm on the red carpet.
“Martin and Olympia have known each other for a very long time and get along extremely well,” a friend told me.
She was the queen of the Brits, winning a record six awards at this year’s ceremony, but pop star Raye is clearly keen to keep her feet on the ground.
Figures from the performing arts sector she uses to channel her income reveal the 26-year-old singer enjoyed a relatively modest salary of £50,000 last year.
Hello Rat Ltd’s accounts record that in the 12 months to the end of March last year, a dividend of £50,000 was paid to Raye, real name Rachel Keen. The company had assets of over £100,000.

Liz Truss makes modest progress
Tony Blair received a £4.6 million advance for his memoirs, but it’s a different story for other former prime ministers.
Liz Truss has just announced in the Register of MPs’ Financial Interests that she has received an initial advance of £1,512 from Biteback Publishing for her book, Ten Years To Save The West, which is due to be published next month.

Regnery, the Conservative publisher publishing his book in the United States, has a little more confidence in his prospects, giving him an advance of £6,000.
King Charles has had a difficult first year as monarch, but he is nonetheless determined to celebrate the first anniversary of his coronation.
I’ve heard that his Gloucestershire retreat, Highgrove, is having a ‘Red, White and Blue Ball’ next month.
An advert promises a “sophisticated evening of elegance, glamor and excitement”, including canapes followed by a candlelit dinner featuring a “sumptuous three-course menu expertly paired with Highgrove’s finest organic wines and live music all through the night “.
Tickets cost £200 each, which is suitably royal.
Rose at 40 has lost none of its flowering
Although her godmother, the Princess of Wales, was conspicuous by her absence, the National Portrait Gallery still attracted an impressive number of guests to its portrait gala on Tuesday evening.
The Marquess of Cholmondeley and his wife, Rose, were among the guests, who included Princess Alexandra’s granddaughter, Flora Ogilvy.

Rose, who celebrated her 40th birthday this weekend, hopes her friend Princess Catherine will soon be dancing again. Last summer I revealed that Catherine attended her first ‘rave’ at the Houghton Festival on the Cholmondeley estate in Norfolk.
The late Earl leaves £500,000 to Eton
Remarkably, given that he was 6ft 6in tall, his shoes were a small size 6. But the 8th Earl Cadogan, who died last year aged 86, remained lithe until the end – from less proverbially speaking.
The 8th Earl Cadogan, who died last year aged 86, left £500,000 of his estimated £5.5 billion fortune to his old school, Eton.
His will, which has just been published, shows that Charles Cadogan, who succeeded to the earldom on the death of his father in 1997, left £6.5 million. This represents only a tiny fraction of the family fortune which, based on the 93-acre prime property in London’s Chelsea, is conservatively estimated at £5.5 billion.
The thrice-married Cadogan, who nobly championed women who liked to sunbathe topless in the gardens owned by his Cadogan estates, bequeathed £500,000 to his old school, Eton.
