A nonprofit is going viral after doctors revealed on TikTok the things they would never do now that they have been trained in the medical field.
Medical experts associated with the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northern Ohio (AMCNO) gave their best advice in a video published on Wednesday.
In the clip, a medical student and a gastroenterologist admitted that they would no longer eat potato salad.
Additionally, more than one medical expert admitted that they would never ride a bike, snowboard, or skateboard without a helmet.
“I had an electric scooter that I rode around campus and I didn’t wear a helmet when I rode it,” one of the medical students explained.
Medical experts associated with the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northern Ohio (AMCNO) revealed what they would never do now that they are involved in medicine.
“So now I would always wear a helmet,” he added.
Another medical student revealed that she would generally never ride a motorcycle.
One interviewee revealed that she would never stay up late studying or smoke, while several experts expressed caution when choosing a better diet.
Another gastroenterologist in the video admitted that he would never eat artificially sweetened foods, while a medical student insisted that she would not “neglect the amount of fiber” she has in her diet.
Other actions never mentioned in the video included eating expired food, putting warm lake water up one’s nose, and allowing children to play soccer.
The video has received more than 150,000 views and is currently the nonprofit organization’s second most viewed video on TikTok.
Potato salad frequently appears on ‘medical school exams on foodborne illnesses’ due to the fact that, when omitted, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria.
Potato salad is a common dish on the table, but it can also cause serious health problems.
According to one of the medical professionals, potato salad frequently appears on “medical school exams on foodborne illnesses.”
“When left in the dangerous temperature zone (between 40 and 140 degrees) for more than two hours, the number of bacteria can grow enormously,” the account wrote.
Wearing a helmet while riding a bike or skateboard can also save someone’s life if they are involved in a traffic accident.
“Each year, about 2% of deaths in car accidents are cyclists,” wrote the Insurance Institute for Road Safety.
“In the majority of cyclist deaths, the most serious injuries occur to the head, which highlights the importance of wearing a bicycle helmet.”
Artificial sweeteners may be tasty, but they can also increase someone’s risk of getting cancer, cardiovascular disease, or type 2 diabetes.
Conversely, a high-fiber diet could help someone ensure they are in good health, as it can help with digestive health and cholesterol reduction.
As for medical experts’ aversion to warm lake water, it can be fun to swim in, but can be dangerous if contaminated with parasites and bacteria and, in some cases, potentially fatal.
Other things the video participants insisted they would never do included not riding a bike without a helmet and eating artificial sweeteners.
Several commenters who watched the AMCNO video were surprised by the comments about potato salad.
However, they suggested that smaller portions and keeping them cold could resolve the potential risks of potato salad.
At least two other TikTokers said they would never be able to give up artificial sweeteners, with one insisting they couldn’t rip them from their ‘cold, dead fingers.’
Others mentioned the warm lake water scene and how it’s an “annual occurrence” during the summer.
‘That warm lake water thing shook me to my core. I never thought about how toxic that water source is,” wrote one TikToker.
