Chris Hemsworth revealed that he was rejected for a role in a movie directed by Kevin Costner, only to discover that Costner had cast it himself.

speaking to Entertainment tonight in CineCon in Las Vegas On Thursday, the Australian actor, 40, said he fell in love with the mysterious project and even tried to convince Costner, 69, to change his mind.

“There was a movie, a script that I had read and loved and I said, ‘I want to get that,’ and then someone said, ‘Kevin Costner has that.’ [role]”,” the Thor star began.

‘I’d love to [to have] him as director. I was like, “Damn!” [I spent] The other day I spent an hour trying to convince him and he said, “I’ll do it, kid.”

‘It didn’t work. I didn’t get the role.

Hemsworth remained tight-lipped about the film’s name, describing it as “abstract and interesting…a little story about a man and a woman.”

“It probably looks better in its wheelhouse, as far as the Western type of environment goes. “There are horses involved, he’s a horse keeper, and my wife read it and she loves horses,” Hemsworth said.

“We have 10 or 11 horses at home and she says, ‘You have to do this.'”

Costner also spoke to Entertainment Tonight at CinemaCon about Hemsworth’s rejection, saying: “It’s a love story, but as long as I’m young enough to play it, I’ll play it.”

Costner also spoke to Entertainment Tonight at CinemaCon about Hemsworth's rejection, saying:

“Chris will have to wait his turn,” she continued brutally, adding, “He’s so handsome and so good.” He will have to go find his [own] love story. [But] I’m glad you like this one.’

Costner, however, admitted that Hemsworth could still have a chance to land a role in one of his films in the future.

‘If I come to a time when [don’t] I think I could do that, I would. [reach out]. He is undoubtedly one of our great protagonists at this moment,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Chris is focused on promoting his upcoming action film Furiosa and Transformers One, in which he voices Orion Pax, a young Optimus Prime.
