This is the moment a trio of suspects laughed at police after being arrested for robbing two cyclists in the Colombian city of Choachí.

The perpetrators, all Venezuelan nationals, allegedly ambushed the victims, including professional cyclist Javier Jamaica, on Tuesday.

Jamaica said Caracol News that after he was knocked off his bike, the suspects beat him and tied him up before taking his cell phone, helmet, sunglasses and cycling shoes.

They abandoned him with another cyclist, who had been assaulted 15 minutes earlier, and fled before being captured later.

Cundinamarca Police Commander Colonel Andrés Serna said in a statement that the suspects also forced their victims to provide their bank details and transferred an unspecified amount of money.

Police were able to locate the three suspects while they were traveling in a stolen vehicle and recovered both bicycles, worth approximately $15,000 each.

The suspects were identified as Arles Olivares, Reinel Granadilla and Donanfer Lunar.

The images showed Lunar threatening the victim with a knife in the middle of a pedestrian bridge while his accomplice ordered him to hand over his personal belongings.

Authorities are still looking for the victim of the March robbery to interview him.

The lead prosecutor in the case revealed that the suspects carefully planned their robberies at two different points near wooded areas in Choachí and Bogotá.

In addition to stealing bicycles and electric scooters, criminals took their victims to wooded areas, where they forced them to unlock their mobile phones and transfer money from their bank accounts or ask them to reveal their passwords.

‘You knew that in the sector where you were there were people cycling,’ said the prosecutor.

“They take away his cell phone, his bicycle, his glasses and the other objects he had, and then they tie him up and leave him lying there,” the prosecutor said about the crime involving Jamaica.
