Two bodies have been found in an estuary south of Perth following a suspected double drowning.

A man and woman were pulled from the water at Herron Point Boat Ramp in Birchmont, about 30km south of Mandurah, about midday on Thursday.

The pair are believed to have gone on a fishing trip on Wednesday and did not return.

The police searched for them after their loved ones raised the alarm.

This was told by people who live at a nearby campsite 9 News they did not see what happened to the couple, but locals said the water could be treacherous and had deep sections.

The deaths are not being treated as suspicious.
