Content creator Alexis Androulakis revealed how to properly use these scent testers at Sephora, explaining that you should always spray on the skinny side of the paper.

A beauty expert has revealed how you’re supposed to use these paper perfume testers at popular stores like Sephora – leaving the internet stunned by the correct technique.

The tip was shared by makeup experts and content creators Alexis Androulakis and Dr. Christina Basias Androulakis, known as Lipstick lesbians on social networks.

The two often take to TikTok to share their tips, tricks, tips and beauty product reviews, with over 701,000 followers.

In a new clip, Alexis explained to viewers that you need to spray the perfume on the thin part of the paper blotter to achieve its maximum effects.

“This is technically where you’re actually designed to bend it, and you’re supposed to use your finger to hold it,” Alexis explained in the video, which she showed to viewers.

Alexis folded the stick of paper in half, then held the thicker part of the paper between her index finger and thumb.

In the caption of the TikTok post, she added that bending the tester can help bring the perfume closer to your nose.

“That little Sephora emblem is dye,” she explained, referring to the logo that sits on most of the tester. “You don’t want to spray it on the dye.”

“You’re supposed to spray it on the tip so you can just smell it,” she continued.

Alexis’ wife, Dr. Christina, then asked if this technique was the correct way to spray perfume in a perfume house.

“Technically, yes,” Alexis replied.

“I’ve seen Sephora employees do it on the other side, but whenever I worked at a perfume house, the thinner tip was always where you put the perfume on the blotter.” , she concluded.

Spray it like you mean it! How to properly use a perfume tester

  • Alexis said to spray the perfume on the tester’s skinny side
  • Then you can bend it and hold the skinny side up to your nose.
  • The perfume should not go on the thicker side of the paper tester

In the comments section of their TikTok, many users seemed shocked by the useful hack, joking that they were “blown away.”

“I ALWAYS learn something from your content and LOVE it,” one person wrote.

“I did everything wrong,” someone else admitted.

Other commenters claimed that this was actually the correct way to spray perfume on a tester.

“When I worked for Jo Malone, they taught us to spray on the bend and hold it close to your nose so it hugs your nostrils and you get the most accurate reading possible,” one person said.

Another added: “I work at Sephora and my assistant store manager taught me how to spray on the fine side! Now I train others to do it.

“Sephora Certified Fragment Expert here!” That’s right. Coloring can change grades,” one commenter wrote.

However, Alexis isn’t the only one with good perfume tips to share.

In January, beauty guru Ashley Paige shared her best tips for making your signature scent last a little longer.

One of her tips was to make sure to moisturize your skin before spraying it.

“My first tip is to moisturize your skin before applying it,” Paige said.

“Before perfumes adhere to emollients, it is very important to keep your skin hydrated before applying perfume.”

She also suggested “layering” your perfumes and avoiding rubbing your wrists after spraying your perfume.
