At least six people, including children, are missing after a house fire that was shot by two police officers during an active shooter situation near Philadelphia.
Police responded to reports that an 11-year-old girl was shot in East Lansdowne, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, although it is unclear if a child was actually shot, they reported. NBC10.
The house was set on fire as police surrounded the house, according to District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer.
Authorities said a large family lived in the home and at least six to eight people are still missing, according to Fox 29 Philadelphia.
Authorities had still not been able to enter the building as of 7 a.m. EST on Thursday.
‘We are aware that there are at least between six and eight missing people from that family. “We have a terrible fear that they may have been inside that house when it was burned,” Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said.

Both are in stable condition at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, according to the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office.
Both are veterans with 22 years of experience and are expected to recover. One officer works for the Lansdowne Police Department and the other works for the East Lansdowne Police.

The shooting reportedly stopped around 6 p.m. and the fire is under control, however investigators will not be able to enter the home until Thursday.

“Right now the fire is under control and then we can go in and do the investigation to determine who the shooter was, if he is alive and if it was an 11-year-old girl.”
