America’s best pizzeria has been revealed in a glittering awards ceremony highlighting the tastiest pies from across the country.
A Napoletana Pizza won first prize in the prestigious US 50 Top Pizza ranking.
The New York restaurant received the award for the third year in a row, with owner Anthony Mangieri “visibly moved” by the honor.
“We are a small but mighty team, and we don’t take for granted the support of our guests and friends around the world who allow us to continue doing what we love,” the restaurant said after the win.

A Pizza Napoletana offers just six pizzas, one of which is a weekly rotating special. Prices are not indicated on the website.
The venue is so popular that bookings only open two weeks in advance, with spaces opening at 9am daily.
The dough is made every morning and one pizza is allocated per person. However, select walk-ins are available.
The restaurant beat out some tough competition: San Francisco’s Tony’s Pizza Napoletana, Tony Gemignani who took second place, and Joe Beddia’s. Pizzeria Beddia in Philadelphia came in third.
Mangieri’s establishment on the Lower East Side has been in operation for almost three decades.
It specializes in “naturally leavened wood-fired pizzas,” according to the website, but also offers some appetizers, ice cream made daily, and seasonal sorbet.
The pizzeria is in good company, as the Big Apple has been named the best city for pizza overall and has no less than 17 restaurants in the guide.

New York was followed by Chicago with seven and Portland with six.
The most represented state is New York, with 19 pizzerias appearing in the guide, followed by California with 14 pizzerias and Illinois with seven.
50 Top Pizza determines its winners by sending anonymous inspectors to evaluate each entry, weighing factors such as product quality and customer satisfaction.
This year, in addition to the annual list of pizzerias, the guide voted for the first time for the best slice of pizza in the US.
First place went to L’industrie Pizzeria, in New York, second to Slice & Pie, in Washington, and third to Taglio, in Mineola.
“We have made a significant effort to expand the 50 Top Pizza USA Guide 2024 to include 100 pizzerias,” said 50 Top Pizza USA guide curators Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro and Albert Sapere.
‘The American pizza movement is in full ferment, with a new generation of artisans increasingly focused on the quality of the product and ingredients, which has gained strong momentum in the past year, including the introduction of tasting menus in many pizzerias.
The winners were announced at an event at the Big Apple’s Chelsea Market on Tuesday.
In addition to being crowned the country’s pizza capital, it was recently revealed that New York-style pies are the go-to choice among fans of the Italian dish.
The study surveyed more than 5,000 Americans about their pizza eating habits, revealing that the average person consumes 288 slices each year.
