An American tourist was “blown away” by Australia’s most populous city, even comparing Sydney’s financial district to New York City.

The Californian was stunned by the “clean” and pretty buildings while walking around the city on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old said the skyscrapers give off “New York vibes” but with a much higher level of cleanliness, noting that “it doesn’t smell like human excrement.”

The lone traveler fawned over Sydney’s architecture, particularly the Victorian-era sandstone buildings, in the video posted to TikTok.

“I really feel like I’m in a movie, the buildings are just beautiful,” she said as she strolled through the shops of The Strand Arcade.

“I feel silly because I’m so culture-shocked…in a good way too.”

The woman said it was strange to see Australians so accustomed to their city and “just going about their daily lives” amidst all the beauty.

She revealed she had “no expectations” outside of the Sydney Opera House and only came to visit the US Consulate General after losing her passport in Brisbane.

Some Sydneysiders were surprised by the high praise for their city, with many saying they were “confused” by his glowing assessment.

“I almost choked on my coffee comparing Sydney to New York,” one user commented.

“It’s so strange to hear people being blown away by Sydney,” wrote a second.

“Remove the ‘reminds me of New York’ which is offensive,” said a third.

Others said the comparison had made them “reflect and appreciate” the city.

“I loved seeing you walking around Sydney, I lived there for over 20 years and I love seeing it with new eyes,” one user wrote.

Another said the video “really made me smile seeing how much you enjoy discovering the city.”

The Californian previously told Daily Mail Australia that she had fallen in love with Australia immediately after landing in Perth at the end of September.

‘The whole experience has really humbled me. I love the greenery and wildlife they have and how everyone looks out for each other. “I’m learning a lot,” he said.

He was almost brought to tears watching young children taking public transportation with their friends or alone, highlighting the country’s safety.

‘It blew my mind, but it tells me how safe you guys are compared to the US. “(In the United States) you don’t see kids going out alone like that anymore, and if they do, you just worry about their safety and wonder where their parents are because it’s really not safe there,” he said.

He added that Australian food and products were better than those in the United States and that he appreciated that restaurants did not charge for tap water.

‘Australia is super multicultural and diverse and is truly a happy place. The only thing I don’t like is that everything closes at 5 in the afternoon,’ he said.
